Building the Evidence. A Report on the status of Policy and Practice in responding to violence against women with disabilities in Victoria

Lucy, Healey, Keran, Howe, Cathy, Humphreys

Published Literature

2008

There are many people whose day-to-day experiences remain invisible to the broader community, with the acts perpetrated against them seemingly going unnoticed. Even when we do realise what is happening, knowing the best way to respond to the complexities of individual experience can be difficult to determine – individually and systemically. It can take a long time to catch up and work out what has to be done. The evidence in this report is chilling, not only because of the extent to which women with a disability are experiencing violence, but also because it has taken so long to properly identify the problem and consider solutions.
