The Development of Questionnaire for Longitudinal Study on the Social and Economic Participation of People with Disability

Published Literature

2014

This project used a developmental process to design a questionnaire for the first wave of a longitudinal survey. The longitudinal study of people with and without disabilities aimed to enable important questions about the lives of people with disabilities to be answered, overcoming the problems associated with current disability datasets. This report outlines the four stage questionnaire development process.

Recommendations included investing resources to establish a study based on questions that are informed by a social model of disability. The questions need to be provided in multiple modalities (e.g. web, plain language, large font) so that people with a range of impairments are able to participate. People with disabilities need to be included in all stages of the study development, implementation and interpretation of findings.
