Australian Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs,

Published Literature

The 'Characteristics of Disability Support Pension recipients' annual reports contain information on recipients by age, gender, geographic state, country of birth, marital status, home ownership, medical condition, earnings, rate and duration. They include information on grants, cancellations and payment to payment transfers. The 2007 report explains who the Disability Support Pension (DSP) is for, its eligibility requirements and an overview of who receives it. It provides an analysis of the demographic characteristics of people who received the DSP in the year to June 2007, the medical conditions afflicting recipients, the earnings of recipients and the duration of their support, a breakdown of new claims (including reasons for rejection), and the transition between DSP and other forms of support or income.
