This article documents key intersections and tensions between labour regulation, the regulatory force of the funding market and gender norms, and their impact not only on wages, but also on the meagre working time standards that currently exist for many frontline care workers.

Delineating disability, labour force participation and employment restrictions among persons with psychosis

This paper described characteristics of labour force participation and employment among persons with psychosis. It showed that they have low labour force participation rate. It emphasises education and training opportunities for this group.

Direct costs of blindness in Australia

This study calculated the direct financial costs of blindness to the Australian government and community. Three case studies were used to calculate the annual costs associated with blindness. There were significant financial costs to the government and the communities. .

Disabilities and Labour Market Earnings in Australia

This research examines the effect of disability status on the labour market earnings of males and females in Australia. The results indicate that disabilities have a large impact on labour earnings.

Disability and Social Security: Compatible or Not?

This article demonstrates the policy rift between the ‘equality’ and the ‘special needs’ goals as a result of the conceptual tensions between the principles of normalisation and equal treatment, and provision of social security in ways which recognise the specific needs of people with a disability.

Disability, employment and work performance among people with ICD‐10 anxiety disorders

This study identified factors that affect labour force participation and work performance among people with anxiety disorders. Reduced labour force participation, degraded employment trajectories and impaired job performance influenced anxiety disorders.
