I recently retired from my role as President on the Committee of Management, Leukodystrophy Australia, in order to focus full-time on completion of my PhD, which focuses on the perspectives of parents who care for a child/children requiring high-level care. Prior to that role, I was employed at Leukodystrophy Australia as 'Family Advocate', a role that involved provision of information, support and referral, individual and systemic advocacy, and liaison with families' local professionals.
