Webster, Annie,

Online Resources

2011

This article reviews cases of violence against disabled people in the Queensland Centre for Domestic and Family Violence Research's database. It reviews new cases from January 2007 and July 2011, for people who have sought assistance from one of the 24 non-government agencies who contribute to the database. It presents information on: gender and types of disabilities recorded; type of service required; protection orders in place; type of relationship; and the primary reason for contacting a service. Of the 10,963 cases of violence against disabled people recorded, the most common abuse types were violence against a partner or violence against an adult child.
